Client: Bob Cad Cam URL: www.bobcadcam.com For this project I completed the following work: Website Redesign. Potential customers would get lost on the site while a software sales person was trying to guide them to a certain portion of the website. Many components of the site were being pulled in from various other domains, and there were includes and misuse of CSS everywhere.
Website Design problems that needed solving:
Poor website Design
Poor website Navigation
Non valid html and css
No real call to action, which is to get a web visitor to download and try the product
Complete lack of social elements
Misuse of videos one of the most important forms of marketing
Out of control spending on Google PPC
No fresh leads coming in through organic efforts
Positioning the brand as the cheap option in the market
Here is a "before" screen shot of the site from the Internet Way Back Machine Archive:
Going back to basics I opened an Excel spread sheet and really re-assessed this design. I started by doing intense market research including speaking to shop owners and workers who use cad cam software at their business. What do they look for in a product? I then spoke with sales people at the company and at trade shows. I then referred to google and my SEO tools to come up with the best key words, and key word phrases. Using the excel spread sheet I put every key word and phrase into the site, across various pages. These pages were created specifically to solve the navigation problems. I emphasized three tiers of navigation, and focused the important element of achieving a download result for every visitor, by putting the download call to action button in a bright color off on it's own. The color palette is clean and inviting and professional compared to the old site.
The modern looking site supports great content, SEO, and has made the navigation of the site much better for prospective customers. This has increased the brand presence and measure of quality of the brand in the marketplace. Subsequently web traffic has gone up, downloads of their software has increased, and Google PPC costs can be spread across other products and more sales have been generated.
Graphic Design: Other work I completed was redesigning of their emails, and their follow up letters to anyone who download a free trial of their product. Postcard Mailers had to have a fresh new look to.
Marketing: Other duties were running their email marketing system, and implementation of Google Analytics for the website and the emails. This speed sped up out flow and increased lead conversion, by focusing on quality and consistency. In addition to the 80,000+ emails I was sending out, I also managed their post card promotional mailers. On average 6,000+ postcards were designed and mailed out to lists I managed every week.
SEO: A major part of the design overhaul was the SEO work I completed. I implemented my SEO market research and properly placed it in the site copy, and then marked it up accordingly with the meta data.
Social Media: Using sites and services like Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Scribd, we were able to create a stronger presence for the brand in the growing social marketplace. This had lead to multiple thousands of leads, increased SEO back links and a direct connection with customers around the globe.
